The dial is handcrafted with .999 Fine Silver using cloisonné enamel techniques. Fine silver wire is bent by hand and applied to the fine silver dial to create cells. Each cell is filled by hand with opaque vitreous (grand feu) enamel from Japan and fired multiple times in the kiln at about 1400 degrees Fahrenheit. The face of the cats is painted using Mason Stains. To truly appreciate the beauty of enamel the watch should be seen in person. This watch is inspired by a wood cut print by Inagaki Tomoo reimagined in a completely different medium and colors.

The watch case is made in Stainless Steel by the Cincinnati Watch Company. 

The watch features a Swiss Made Automatic Movement.

Making Champlevé Dials

Champlevé dials begin with a pure silver dial blank engraved with a pattern that can be filled with enamel.

Applying the Enamel

Using the same techniques as cloisonné, finely ground enamel is washed and mixed with water so that it can be applied to the dial using a fine brush.

The engraved areas of the dial are filled with various colors to create shading, gradations, and to bring the image to life.

Firing the enamel

The enamel is built up layer upon layer. Each layer is fired at about 1400 degrees Fahrenheit in the kiln. The enamel grains melt creating a smooth surface that is fused to the silver dial blank.
