The dial features a section of the iconic Rose Window in Cincinnati's Music Hall. The dial is handcrafted with .999 Find Silver using champlevé enamel techniques. The fine silver dial is laser engraved with the pattern of the Rose Window. Each cell is filled by hand with semi-transparent and opaque vitreous (grand feu) enamel from Japan and fired multiple times in the kiln at about 1400 degrees Fahrenheit. To truly appreciate the beauty of enamel the watch should be seen in person. Don't hesitate to reach out for an appointment to see the watch if you are interested in purchasing the watch.

This watch is part of a limited series of Rose Window dials. Each dial features the same beautiful pattern from the Rose Window with a unique set of colors.

The watch case is made in Stainless Steel by the Cincinnati Watch Company.

Making Champlevé Dials

Champlevé dials begin with a pure silver dial blank engraved with a pattern that can be filled with enamel.

Applying the Enamel

Using the same techniques as cloisonné, finely ground enamel is washed and mixed with water so that it can be applied to the dial using a fine brush.

The engraved areas of the dial are filled with various colors to create shading, gradations, and to bring the image to life.

Firing the enamel

The enamel is built up layer upon layer. Each layer is fired at about 1400 degrees Fahrenheit in the kiln. The enamel grains melt creating a smooth surface that is fused to the silver dial blank.
